Hillsboro PD will be conducting a 7-week regional K9 training school led by Sgt.Hodgen. The training program is intended to equip new narcotics detection teams from Cheshire County NH, Brentwood NH, Montpellier VT, Rutland County VT, and Hillsboro PD's new K9 team.
This week marks the start of the formal training for K9 Voight who is just 12 months old and was carefully selected from Prospect Canine, located in New Hampshire.
Sgt Hodgen will handle Voight, and the training will span over a year, preparing him to replace K9 Gibbs upon his retirement in November. K9 Gibbs will continue to live with Sgt. Hodgen after he retires from his many years of service.
We would like to extend thanks to the Stanton Grant Foundation https://thestantonfoundation.org/canine-welfare/k9-programs/first-dog and the Penny Harris Foundation http://www.phfk9.org/ for their ongoing support to make these training happen.
