The City of Batavia Police Department is excited to announce the promotion of 2 of our members.

William Yung is a 5-year veteran of Batavia PD and was recently promoted to the rank of Detective. Detective Yung graduated from the Alfred State Police Academy in 2021. Yung is a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team and BPD Honor Guard. Yung has a certification in Crisis Intervention Training and is active in community policing.

Joseph Weglarski is a 4-year veteran of Batavia PD and was recently promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Weglarski graduated from the Alfred State Police Academy in 2022. Sergeant Weglarski is a 3-time consecutive recipient of the STOP-DWI “Top Cop” award through the Genesee County STOP DWI Program. Sergeant Weglarski is a certified Field Training Officer and was an active member in our Neighborhood Enforcement Team last year.
