On August 18, 2024 at approximately 8:25PM, the Culpeper County E-911 Center received a 911 call about an abduction of an adult female from the 500-block of Fourth St. The juvenile caller reported that their mother had been forcibly removed from her property by her adult male boyfriend. The juvenile, accompanied by their father, went to the male suspect’s residence in the 600-block of Mountain View Dr in an attempt to locate the victim. When they were unable to locate the victim, they called 911.
Culpeper Police Department officers responded to both the Fourth St and Mountain View Dr residences. As the initial investigative unfolded, information indicated that the female was at risk for physical harm. Due to the nature of the crime, detectives with the Culpeper Police Department responded to spearhead the investigation. A “Be On the Look Out” notice was broadcasted to surrounding jurisdictions for the male suspect and the involved vehicle. The Virginia State Police issued a Critically Missing Person Alert on behalf of the Culpeper Police Department, and the victim was entered into a national law enforcement database as missing.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the male suspect’s residence. The search warrant was executed by the Virginia State Police Tac Team with the assistance of the Culpeper Police Department SWAT team. Neither the male nor the female were located.
As officers continued the investigation, a third party caller contacted law enforcement and directed search efforts to a hotel in Culpeper County. Detectives located the male and female at that hotel. The female victim was uninjured and safely recovered by law enforcement. The male subject was taken into custody without further incident. Resources from the Culpeper County Crime Victim/Witness and Services to Abused Families (SAFE) were provided to the female.
As a result of this investigation, the Culpeper Police Department has charged Asael Roblero Narvaez, 34, of Culpeper with one count each of felony Abduction, misdemeanor Domestic Assault and Battery, and misdemeanor Assault and Battery. He was held without bond at the Culpeper County jail. Based on the nature of these charges in addition to his two prior documented deportations, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued an immigration detainer for Roblero Narvaez.
“Our agency will always take the report of a missing person seriously, especially when that person is missing under concerning circumstances,” said Chief C. Settle. “I want to recognize our officers and detectives for their extensive dedication throughout this investigation, and thank our law enforcement partners for their assistance. We will always exhaust all legal efforts to keep our community members safe.”
