Culpeper, Virginia – The Culpeper Police Department is proud to announce the introduction of a new design for its police vehicle fleet, the result of a department-wide initiative focused on reflecting both the agency’s identity and the community it serves.
Over the past several months, employees from across the department were invited to submit ideas for a refreshed vehicle design that would represent the values of the department and the character of the Culpeper community. Two employee submissions advanced to the final stage, and all sworn and civilian personnel were given the opportunity to provide input before the final selection was made. Rozwaduckie Design LLC, a local graphics design business, assisted with the final design details prior to the final selection.
Following this collaborative process, the majority of department members ultimately selected the Blue Ridge Mountain–inspired design created by Officer Ashley Sain. “I’m very grateful to the Culpeper Police Department for giving their employees the opportunity to submit design ideas for their new fleet. It means a lot to help make our fleet represent both our department and the community we serve every day. When I think about Culpeper and what symbolizes our town, my first thought is always the Blue Ridge Mountains.” – Officer Sain
The design highlights the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains, a defining geographic and cultural feature of the region, representing Culpeper’s natural beauty, our people, and sense of place that make the Culpeper community unique. This design also showcases the department’s uniform patch that displays the original “Coat of Arms” of Lord Culpeper, along with the American Flag on the back window.
The Culpeper Police Department was first established in 1956 by the Town Council, and has had various police vehicle designs over its 70-year history. The last vehicle design took effect in 2011. Newly budgeted police vehicles for 2026 have already begun receiving the updated markings, and the department will gradually implement the design across its existing fleet as vehicles are replaced or updated.
“This new design reflects both who we are as a police department and the community we proudly serve,” said Chief Chris Settle of the Culpeper Police Department. “Our employees played a direct role in creating and selecting this design, which makes it especially meaningful. The Blue Ridge Mountains are an iconic symbol of our region and represent the strength, pride, and beauty of Culpeper.”
The Culpeper Police Department looks forward to rolling out the new vehicle design throughout the fleet in the coming months as part of its continued commitment to service, integrity, community, and commitment to service.
