
Shots Fired Incident - Arrest
On Friday, September 30th 2022, around 6:00 PM, the Batavia Police Department received a complaint of hearing what sounded like gun shots in the area of 200 Ellicott St. Witnesses on location observed a male walking nervously with what appeared to be a gun on his person. A male matching the description provided by the witnesses was located walking on the Ellicott Trail a short distance from the incident location. An Officer attempted to stop and interview the individual, however the individual fled on foot. During the foot pursuit the individual, later identified as Tarrence Y. Williams (age 22 of Batavia), removed his identifiable clothing and discarded a firearm in a bush near M&T Bank on Court Street. Williams was located by patrols and taken into custody without further incident at that location. A search of the immediate area located the firearm and Williams’ clothing along with other evidentiary items.
It is believed that this was an isolated incident and no individuals were reported injured. Williams was subsequently arrested following an investigation, he was arraigned in Batavia City Court on the charges of Criminal Posession of a Weapon 2nd (Class C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th (Class A Misdemeanor) and committed to the custody of the Genesee County Jail on $50,000 cash bail.
Williams is currently awaiting sentencing from a previous court proceeding where he pled guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, with an intent to sell (Class C Felony).
