Press Releases 7/27/2025

  • On 7/5/2025, Jerwan B McFarley (age 39) of Batavia, was arrested for Burglary 3rd and Criminal Mischief 4th.

McFarley allegedly broke into a business on Ellicott St and damaged property inside. He was arraigned in CAP Court and is due in Batavia City Court at a later date.

  • On 7/21/2025, Heriberto Benitez (age 51) of Batavia, was arrested for Menacing 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd.

Benitez allegedly threatened another person with a knife, during an altercation on West Main St. He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.

  • On 7/14/2025, Donald J Lange (age 42) of Cheektowaga, was arrested on a warrant for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd.

Lange was allegedly found attempting to sell stolen property on Facebook Marketplace. He was arraigned in CAP Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail.

  • On 7/23/2025, Adrian M Sovie (age 19) of Sodus, was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.

Sovie was arrested following an investigation into a traffic stop on 4/26/2025, when he was allegedly found to by operating a vehicle, while impaired by drugs. Sovie was also allegedly found to be in possession of fentanyl. He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in Batavia City Court on 8/5/2025.

  • On 7/16/2025, Winston A Lockhart (age 30) of Batavia, was arrested on a Bench Warrant.

The warrant was issued for Lockhart after he failed to appear in court, following a Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol arrest. He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.

  • On 7/17/2025, Christopher J Capen (age 36) of Medina, was arrested on a warrant for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.

Capen was allegedly found in possession of narcotics, during a traffic stop on 9/26/2024. He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.

  • On 7/23/2025, Nicholas M Ricigliano (age 41) of Batavia, was arrested for Criminal Mischief 4th.

Ricigliano allegedly threw an item at a car window on Tracy Ave. He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in court on 7/29/2025.

  • On 7/22/2025, Joseph W Freeman (age 41) of Batavia, was arrested on a warrant for Trespass.

Freeman allegedly trespassed at the Budget Inn on Oak St. He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.

  • On 7/21/2025, Kaliann M Bell (age 27) of Batavia, was arrested for Criminal Mischief 4th and Harassment 2nd.

Bell allegedly punched another person and damaged property, during an altercation on East Main St. She was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.

  • On 7/20/2025, Juan A Claudio (age 23) of Batavia, was arrested for Criminal Contempt 2nd.

Claudio allegedly had contact with another person, in violation of an order of protection. He was issued an appearance ticket and released.

  • On 7/21/2025, Marcus A King (age 23) of Batavia, was arrested for Harassment 2nd.

King allegedl shoved another person, during an argument on Chestnut St. He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.

  • On 7/17/2025, Brandon M Weig (age 37) of Batavia, was arrested for Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd and Resisting Arrest.

Weig was arrested after allegedly running from police, while they were investigating reports of people attempting to steal items from vehicles. He was arraigned in CAP Court.

  • On 7/17/2025, Justin J Caryl (age 37) of Warsaw, was arrested for DWI.

Caryl was charged following a traffic stop on West Main St. He was issued several traffic tickets and released.
