On 09/12/2022 at approximately 11:50 PM, the Genesee County Dispatch Center received a call from an observant citizen about people being inside Ken Barrett’s Chevrolet, located at 229 W. Main Street. Officers from the Batavia Police Department arrived and encountered 4 individuals fleeing out the back of the business. Two of the suspects, Darnell Cleveland (26) and Kanyia Coleman (18) of Buffalo, NY, were taken into custody at the scene by Batavia Police. The other 2 suspects, Craig Lynch Jr (21) and Nyejay Braction (18) from Buffalo, were taken into custody close to the scene. Cleveland provided a false name in an attempt to prevent officers from arresting him on several outstanding warrants, including a parole warrant. Lynch struggled with officers while being detained. No injuries occurred. Cleveland was charged with Burglary 3^rd and Criminal Impersonation 2^nd, Lynch was charged with Burglary 3^rd, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2^nd, and Resisting Arrest. Braction and Coleman were charged with Burglary 3^rd. All suspects were arraigned before Judge Rogers in Batavia City Court on 09/13/2022. In accordance with NYS bail reform, Cleveland and Lynch were released under the supervision of Genesee Justice. Cleveland was then remanded to the Genesee County Jail on his outstanding parole warrant. Braction and Coleman were released under their own recognizance.
