Culpeper Police Arrest Local Man after Pursuit and Crash
On March 2, 2026, the Culpeper Police Department arrested a 44-year-old Culpeper man after he fled from an officer during a traffic stop and then crashed his vehicle.
On March, 2026, Officer G. Hutchinson with the Culpeper Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for suspected drunk driving and driving without tail lights in the 400 block of James Madison Highway. The vehicle, being driven by Michael Jolliffe of Culpeper, initially complied and stopped his vehicle in the Dominion Square parking lot. As Officer Hutchinson approached Mr. Jolliffe’s vehicle, he accelerated through parking lot and began travelling at a high rate of speed onto Ira Hoffman Ln. Shortly, after travelling on Ira Hoffman Ln, Mr. Jolliffe crashed his vehicle into a fence at a residence in the 1300 block of Maymount Drive.
Mr. Jolliffe then fled on foot with officers pursuing. During the foot pursuit, officers observed Mr. Jolliffe discard a backpack and a fanny pack. After a brief foot pursuit, offices caught up with Mr. Jolliffe who resisted arrest, however, officers were able to successfully apprehend him.
After taking Mr. Jolliffe into custody, officers determined that he showed indicators of being intoxicated. A search warrant was obtained and executed to obtain evidence related to the suspected driving under the influence.
Mr. Jolliffe was transported to the magistrate’s officer where Officer Hutchinson obtained the following warrants on him:
Mr. Jolliffe was held without bond and committed to the Culpeper County Jail. Upon entry to the jail, a search of his property was conducted for the booking process, which led to the discovery of a white powdery substance. Charges for this substance is pending analysis by the Northern Virginia Forensic Science Laboratory.
