On March 23, 2024 at approximately 11:04PM, the Culpeper County E-911 Center received a 911 call reporting a possible past burglary at a residence in the 1300-block of Monarch St. The caller was the owner of the residence. Culpeper Police Department officers responded to the scene and confirmed that the suspects had already fled the area.
Culpeper Police Department detectives responded to the scene to conduct their investigation. Based on the current evidence, it appears that the suspects waited until the homeowners were away from the residence for a significant period of time. The suspects forced entry into the residence, circumvented the home’s security measures, and then stole a significant amount of valuable property and cash money before fleeing the area. This appears to be an isolated incident.
“We always encourage neighbors to look out for each other,” said Chief Chris Settle. “You know what’s normal for your neighborhood, and what’s out of the ordinary. Any time you see something that looks suspicious or questionable, call our non-emergency number at 540-727-7900 and let our officers come investigate. If you see something, don’t wait to say something.”
This is an active and on-going investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact MPO Det. T. Sisk at 540-829-5535 or email tips@culpeperva.gov.
