On March 30, 2025 at approximately 10:05PM, a Culpeper Police Department officer on routine patrol in the area of James Madison Hwy when they observed a dump truck that was unable to maintain its lane of travel. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the dump truck occupied by an adult male driver and an adult passenger.
The officer conducted an investigation and determined that the driver, Ronnie E. Anderson, 42, of Washington, D.C., showed signs of alcohol impairment. When Anderson was arrested, a concealed loaded semi-automatic handgun was located on him that had been illegally modified into a fully automatic handgun through the use of an “auto sear”. A second, loaded semi-automatic handgun was located inside the dump truck.
As a result of this investigation, the Culpeper Police Department charged and arrested Anderson with felony Possession of a Firearm by Felon (x2), felony Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun, felony Unlawful Possession of Fully-Automatic Trigger Activator, misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Firearm, misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence, misdemeanor Refusal of Breath Test, misdemeanor Driving with an Open Container, and misdemeanor Passing on a Double Line. After a bond hearing with the magistrate, Anderson was held without bond at the Culpeper County Jail. Additional charges may be filed.
The passenger was released without any charges.
