Pennsylvania's Right to Know Law:

On February 14, 2008, Governor Rendell signed into law Act 3 of 2008, known as the Right to Know Law. In accord with this law, Newberry Township has appointed a Right to Know Officer, who will be responsible for the public requests for Newberry Township Police Department documents and public records as follows:

All requests shall be in writing and shall be sent to Newberry Township by mail, facsimile , email , submitted through this website or delivered in person during the Newberry Township regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays and official office closings. Newberry Township will not accept verbal for records or email requests that have not utilized the Right To Know Request Form. As soon as possible, but no later than five business days after receiving a written request to access public records, the Right-to-Know Officer or his designee shall respond to the request.

Public bodies may fill anonymous verbal or written requests. If the requestor wishes to pursue the relief and remedies provided for in this Act, the request must be in writing. (Section 702) Written requests need not include an explanation why information is sought or the intended use of the information unless required by law. (Section 703)
