The Highway Safety Unit (HSU) is dedicated to promoting safe travel and enhancing the quality of life in our community. Through education, enforcement, and data‑driven strategies, HSU works to reduce traffic crashes, prevent injuries, and save lives on our roadways. Staffed by specially trained officers, HSU collects and analyzes traffic data, investigates and reconstructs motor vehicle crashes, and enforces the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code (TITLE 75) and Pennsylvania Vehicle Equipment and Inspection Regulations (TITLE 67). Currently, two (2) officers are assigned to the Highway Safety Unit. Their efforts include speed enforcement initiatives, vehicle equipment regulations enforcement, DUI patrols and sobriety checkpoints, seatbelt enforcement checkpoints, and traffic safety surveys. These activities help identify roadway concerns, encourage safe driving behaviors, and support informed decisions to improve traffic safety throughout the community.
