The New Britain Township Police Department conforms to the hiring standards of the Municipal Police Officer's Education and Training Commission (MPOETC). The requirements for hiring are as follows:

• Age Requirement
  • All applicants must have reached their twenty-first (21st ) birthday at the time of appointment.
• Education
  • All applicants must possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED).
  • All applicants, at a minimum must possess and demonstrate their ability to read on a 9th grade reading level.
• Pennsylvania ACT 120 Certification
  • All applicants must have completed a MPOETC certified police academy and be eligible for, or have received, PA Act 120 certification.
• Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be free of conviction of any disqualifying offenses as outlined by MPOETC.
• Applicants must be in good physical condition and be able to pass a psychological, physical fitness, hearing, vision, and drug test
