Craig, CO – The Craig Police Department is releasing the name of the officer involved in the officer-involved shooting that occurred on April 26th, 2025, in the area of 730 Ashley Road.
At approximately 8:43am, officers responded to a male subject armed with a handgun. During the course of the response, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

In accordance with department policy and in the interest of transparency, the name of the officer involved is being released:

• Sergeant Dalton Caudell, 5 years of service

Sergeant Caudell has been placed on administrative leave, per standard protocol, while the incident is under investigation by 14th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team.

The name of any subject(s) involved other than the officer will not be released at this time.

The Craig Police Department is unable to provide further information in order to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
