Detective Matthew Wojtaszczyk has been appointed as the next Detective Sergeant for the City of Batavia Police Department effective December 1, 2025.
Detective Wojtaszczyk began his career with the department in 2014 and was assigned to the midnight shift after graduating from the Monroe County Police Academy. He quickly distinguished himself by leading the shift in self-initiated activity and DWI arrests.
In 2017, he was promoted to Detective. Since then, Detective Wojtaszczyk has been involved in numerous high-profile investigations that resulted in the arrests and successful prosecutions of multiple individuals. Throughout his career, he has remained actively involved in both community policing efforts and departmental training initiatives.
In 2023, Detective Wojtaszczyk was appointed as the ERT (Emergency Response Team) Commander, where he has overseen numerous team trainings and tactical operations. Additionally, he has served as the PBA President for over five years, demonstrating strong leadership and commitment to his colleagues.

Detective Wojtaszczyk resides in the Town of Leroy with his Family.
