Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) is made up of an elite group of highly trained County Law Enforcement Officers. The mission of SERT is to save lives, all lives, when called out to critical incidents that greatly threaten public safety. Incidents including barricaded gunmen, hostage situations, kidnappings, and high risk warrant services. SERT seeks a peaceful and safe resolution to critical incidents.
East Cocalico Police Officer Zachary Weaver is a member of the Lancaster County SERT team.
SERT Officers have received advanced special training not normally possessed by the average police officer. The Team is composed of numerous County Officers who specialize in various support duties, such as Tactical Operators and Crisis Negotiators.
The Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) has several Officers who have trained with the FBI Hostage Negotiation Team and the NYPD Crisis Negotiation Team. CNT Officers are all certified as Crisis Intervention Specialists.
