As doorbell and other surveillance cameras are becoming more common in homes and businesses, Fairview Township Police has started a camera registry for residents and local businesses.
By participating in this voluntary program, you are helping us quickly locate nearby cameras that may help us solve crime. Currently after an incident, officers must go door to door to see if residents have cameras that might have captured something that could help an investigation. Typically only the immediate locations are contacted and if no one is home, additional attempts to contact them may not happen. By registering your camera with us, we would quickly be able to know who might have recorded footage that could help us solve a crime.
By signing up, your information is confidential and only police have access to your information. You are simply letting us know you have a camera that may have recorded something in case a crime occurred nearby. We would not have access to live feed, and contact with you would still have to be made to obtain a copy of the video. However, we would be able to do so much more quickly and efficiently.
If you have an exterior camera on your home or business and would like potentially to help us solve crimes, please consider signing up here: Camera registry form
