LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD received information about a scam. The reporting person, an adult male, received a phone call from someone claiming to be a Sergeant with the LBPD. The scammer told the caller that there was an issue with their social security number and the scammer transferred the caller to another person. The reporting person, believing the phone call was a scam, did not provide any information to the scammer. The caller reported that the caller ID showed the call was coming from the LBPD.
The LBPD would like to remind everyone that anytime someone asks you to submit payment in the form of gift cards, it is a scam. If you are ever in doubt, please contact us first before completing any transactions or providing any personal information.
If anyone receives a similar call, you are urged to immediately hang up and report the call to the LBPD.
