On 02/24/2023, the LBPD attended the service of Sergeant Christopher Fitzgerald of the Temple University Police Department who was shot and killed in the line of duty on 02/18/2023. The LBPD joined many of officers who paid final respect for the sacrifice made by Sergeant Fitzgerald. The services were held at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Sergeant Fitzgerald was posthumously promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Two current LBPD members are graduates of the Temple University Police Academy.
