Accident Reports
How do I obtain an accident report?
Citizens involved in an accident can request reports online or in person. Accident reports cost $15.00 and may take up to 10 business days to complete the approval and upload process. Please note, if your report number begins with a P, and not a DT, the report is considered non-reportable by State Law and a full written report was not completed and nothing will be available for purchase.
ONLINE: DTPD has partnered with CRASHDOCS.org by CARFAX to allow you to purchase reports online using a credit card. Click here to order a report online.
IN PERSON: If you prefer to order the report in person, you can visit the Police Department in person while the Reception Center is open. Please note, if you order in person you must have exact change, a check, or a money order. We are unable to make change or take credit cards at the station.
Who is entitled to a copy of an accident report?
Any persons involved in the accident, ie: driver, passenger, pedestrian, bicyclist. The owner of the vehicle, owners of damaged property, attorneys and/or insurance companies representing anyone involved in an accident may also obtain a copy of the accident report.
