Police Officer Testing

Testing Information:

The Carlisle Police Department will be participating in the Cumberland County Police Testing Consortium. The testing will take place on March 22nd of 2026. Please visit https://cumberlandcountypolicetest.com/ for additional information.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Valid driver's license

Starting Salary: $76,107 to $95,097 with lateral transfer possibilities (2026). The 2026 academy pay is $57,096.

The Carlisle Borough Police Department is committed to community policing and maintaining a high quality of life throughout the Borough. The department has 33 sworn officers and 3 civilian staff serving a community with a population of approximately 20,000.

DUTIES OF A CARLISLE BOROUGH POLICE OFFICER

Duties include investigating crimes; enforcing state and local traffic laws; investigating accidents; preparing reports; taking appropriate actions including but not limited to arresting subjects, interviewing witnesses/victims, collecting evidence, and preparing cases for court. Opportunities include patrol, investigations, K-9, participation in County SWAT team, DOT inspections, and bike patrol. Patrol officers work a rotating shift that may include 8-12 hour shifts.
