On July 12, 1973, two fifteen-year-old girls from Merrimack, New Hampshire—Diane Compagna and Anne Psaradellis—went missing. They were last seen at Hampton Beach, hitchhiking toward Merrimack late that afternoon. Initially, it was believed they had run away, but two months passed without any word from either girl.
On September 29, 1973, their badly decomposed bodies were found in the woods off New Boston Road in Candia, New Hampshire. This location is near Route 101, the road connecting Merrimack to Hampton Beach. The exact cause of death was undetermined due to the condition of the bodies, but it is believed that the girls were strangled.
