The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has community partners that offer a variety of programs and resources designed to to provide inmates with the opportunity to improve behavior health, addiction treatment, and basic life skills. These programs are designed to assist them with re-integration into the community. The goal of these programs is to reduce recidivism, and crime that is often associated with addictions.
MEDICATED ASSISTED TREATMENT (MAT)
This innovative grant funded MAT program identifies inmates that are suffering from Substance Abuse Disorder (SUD) as well as mental health illnesses. The treatment utiliizes counseling, medication assisted treatment, and post-release after care. The process for which individuals are identified as high risk for substance abuse orders, starts during the intake process when they are medically screened upon entering the jail. Candidates for the addiction treatment program are medically assessed by licensed medical personnel to find the best course of treatment for that person, which may also include managing withdrawals. It is an individual’s choice to be a participant of the addiction treatment program.
