It was a cloudy and rainy day outside today, but inside Heritage Middle school it was a great day for basketball. Members of the Summit and Bedford Park Police Departments joined the students and staff of Heritage and Graves in a friendly game on the court. The officers uniformed in their pink school T-shirts first played the students and were able to get a win by the ringing of the ending buzzer. The students then played against the teachers and the teachers were triumphant. At the end, the police officers played against the teachers but were outmatched by superior basketball skills. It is rumored that the teacher's team had some "ringers" on their team giving them the edge against the officers. It actually was not even close for the officers but perhaps they can do better next time. Fun was had by all, and it was awesome to see and hear the students cheer everyone on! Special recognition goes to the Chief of Police of Bedford Park, Tom Hansen, who donned the pink team shirt and participated in the friendly games. This event was coordinated in participation by School Resource Officer Dominguez and was joined on the courts by Argo High School School Resource Officers Snee and Wagner and officers from the patrol division.
