Congratulations to School Resource Officer (SRO) Armando Dominguez! He has been selected as the 2024 winner of the Floyd Ledbetter National School Resource Officer of the Year Award. He has been selected from the many nominations received from across the country by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) as their pick for this honor. "This award recognizes an SRO that has made a specific and significant contribution to their local town, city, county, and/or school district. These honorees are nominated by their peers, supervisors, school/school district, students, and faculty".
Officer Dominguez has been with the Summit Police Department for 22 years and has been assigned as the school resource officer for Summit School District 104 for 6 years.
SRO Dominguez has demonstrated an incredible ability to interact with the students and foster a relationship of trust and authority. His presence at the schools of District 104 not only provide a level of security for the students so they can focus on learning but also develop a direct link of assistance for students and staff alike.
SRO Dominguez will be presented his award from NASRO at the National School Safety Conference in July.
Please join us in congratulating officer Dominguez, to say that we are proud of his accomplishment is an understatement. We will post further on this when he is formally recognized in July.
