Residents may have noticed some police activity around 63rd and Harlem. The activity is over and there is no danger to the community. Officers observed a dispute between occupants of a vehicle and a pedestrian. The officers conducted a stop of the vehicle around the area of the 7300 block of 63rd street to investigate the matter. The officers were speaking to the driver while he sat in his vehicle when he put the car into gear and fled the stop. Officers returned to their vehicle and by the time they reached the intersection of 63 and Harlem the offending vehicle had already struck another vehicle in traffic and coming to a stop. The male driver fled on foot into Chicago. The female passenger was transported to a hospital as a precaution. Officers recovered a handgun from the offending vehicle and a search of the area was conducted. Chicago police helicopter was in the area to assist but the driver was not located at this time. Detectives will follow up with the investigation and the area was cleared with no injuries.
