The Cortez Police Department hosted a training presentation by the Community Intervention Program. CIP is a new program in this area designed to help people in crisis. The training was attended by staff from the Cortez Police Department, Montezuma County Administration, Cortez Communications Center, Cortez Fire Protection District, and Axis Health. 

The CIP team will be able to help members of this community who are in crisis and in need of assistance. If a person needs help and they are not doing anything illegal, actively attempting to harm themselves, or in need of medical attention The CIP team will be contacted to assist the individual. Area Law Enforcement will be utilized to make sure the team and individuals are in a safe situation during this assessment.
