Knox Box

Knox Boxes: Enhancing Emergency Access and Safety

A Knox Box is a secure, rapid access system designed to provide first responders immediate entry into buildings during emergencies. These heavy-duty, lockable boxes are installed on the exterior of a building and hold keys, access cards, or other critical entry tools. Only authorized personnel, such as fire departments or law enforcement, have access to the box using a master key unique to the jurisdiction.

Knox Boxes are essential for:

  • Improved Emergency Response: They reduce delays caused by locked doors, ensuring faster access in situations like fires, medical emergencies, or security alarms.
  • Minimized Property Damage: Responders can avoid breaking doors or windows to gain entry.
  • Enhanced Security: The system ensures that only authorized personnel can access the stored keys.

How to Get a Knox Box

  1. Visit the Knox Company Website
Visit www.knoxbox.com to browse available products. Options range from wall-mounted boxes to recessed models. Ensure you select the appropriate model based on your property’s needs and local regulations.

  2. Order Online
Paradise Valley does not require authorization to order a Knox Box. When placing your order, be sure to select Paradise Valley Police as the servicing agency to ensure compatibility with our system.

  3. Install the Knox Box
Once received, install the Knox Box in an approved location, typically near the main entrance at a height accessible to first responders. The Paradise Valley Police Department does not handle installations, so it is recommended to hire a professional to ensure proper placement and secure mounting.

  4. Coordinate Key Placement
After installing your Knox Box, it's essential to ensure the keys are securely placed inside for emergency access.
To coordinate this process, please contact the Paradise Valley Police Department’s non-emergency line at 480-948-7410. Our officers will assist you in placing and locking the necessary keys or access tools inside the Knox Box.

Maintaining Your Knox Box
Regularly update the keys and information stored in the Knox Box to reflect any changes to locks, access points, or property details. Notify the Paradise Valley Police Department if updates are needed or if access to the box is required.

By installing a Knox Box, property owners in Paradise Valley can ensure quicker response times, minimize potential property damage, and enhance safety during emergencies. For more information, contact the Paradise Valley Police Department or your local first responders today.
