In the early morning hours of Tuesday, 12/05/2023, three male subjects approached a Cherry Hills Village residence and attempted to gain entry through an exterior door. The audible alarm from the door opening scared off the subjects and they retreated to an unreported stolen black Kia Soul. Within minutes, the suspects successfully made entry into a different CHV residence. The homeowner’s purse and vehicle keys were taken, and the three suspects left the area in the stolen Kia and resident’s truck. CHVPD officers immediately entered the Cherry Hills Village resident’s truck as stolen, which resulted in Englewood PD locating the vehicle within an hour. One juvenile male was arrested for burglary and auto theft and two others remain at large.
This is an active investigation, and all leads are being reviewed. Residents are requested to review security cameras for suspicious activity during the evening hours of 12/04/2023 and early morning hours of 12/05/2023, with a focus on the areas of The Reserve at Cherry Hills and Devonshire Heights.
This is an important reminder for all residents to lock all doors and set your alarms. With the holiday season upon us, crimes of opportunity can sometimes be more prevalent. Be vigilant and notify CHVPD if you see any suspicious behavior.
The arrested suspect is a juvenile male and as such will not be publicly identified.
