The Lansdale Borough Police Department conducts traffic survey studies within our jurisdiction to determine if speed enforcement is needed, to determine if traffic calming measures are required, or to assess the volume of vehicles on a given road at specific times. 

Studies are typically conducted for seven (7) days to obtain accurate data during both weekdays and weekends. JAMAR traffic data collection devices are used and operate 24 hours a day in a stationary position.

Traffic studies commonly reference the 85th percentile speed, which is the speed at or below which 85% of vehicles are traveling and is used as a standard measure of prevailing traffic conditions.
