On Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 3:32 p.m., the Stroud Area Regional Police were dispatched to the Walmart in East Stroudsburg for a report of a retail theft occurring. Upon arrival officers spoke with loss prevention who were reporting that they were observing on the stores live feed a male in a motorized scooter that was concealing merchandise on his person. The officers made contact with the male who was removed from his scooter at which time a pair of shoes and a pair of jeans fell from inside his jacket. Inside the scooter basket was located several open merchandise items. The male was taken to the loss prevention office where several more items were found concealed on his person including a JBL Flip 6 blue tooth speaker which was damaged when it was forcibly removed from the display. The male was identified as Joshua Ackerman. A total of $443.22 in merchandise was stolen or concealed on his person, and the damaged speaker was valued at $104. Ackerman was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility for processing.
Charges were filed and an arrest warrant was issued for Joshua Richard Ackerman. A bench warrant is now issued for Ackerman for failing to appear for court proceedings.
