September 11, 2001 — We Remember.
Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless families, friends, and communities forever changed by that day.
For law enforcement and first responders, September 11 carries a profound meaning. As thousands of people were fleeing the danger, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders ran toward it. They entered burning buildings, climbed countless flights of stairs, searched for survivors, and put the lives of others before their own.
Many never came home.
Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others continue to inspire generations of law enforcement officers and first responders. The events of 9/11 forever changed the way our profession understands sacrifice, service, and the responsibility we carry to protect our communities.
Today, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, those who survived and carried the memories with them, and the families who continue to live with their loss.
We will never forget the courage of those who ran into the flames when everyone else was running away.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
