On 07/29/2026 at approximately 6:04 PM Williamsport Police units were emergency dispatched to 325 High Street for a report of shots fired. Several of the involved actors fled the scene in a vehicle and were located, stopped and detained a short distance from the scene. During the traffic stop, a stolen firearm was recovered on one of the occupants. Through further investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigations Unit and Patrol Division, it was learned that a verbal altercation occurred between several parties in the 300 block of High St, during which time a gun was discharged.

No persons were struck by the gunfire. One of the involved individuals was treated for injuries to the face at UPMC and released. Taken into custody during the investigation and subsequently charged with Discharging a firearm, Receiving Stolen Property (firearm) and several other related charges was Donta WELLS of Williamsport. WELLS was arraigned by MDJ Deiter and committed to Lycoming County Prison on $150,000 bail.
