Captain Cody Smith has served as a law enforcement officer since 2018. Captain Smith's primary responsibilities include overseeing the patrol and criminal investigation units. Before becoming a police officer, he served six years in the United States Army Reserves, which included two overseas deployments under the campaign Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. Afterwards, he attended the Mansfield University Police Academy where he graduated valedictorian of his class.
Captain Smith’s additional duties include being the Coordinator of the Field Training Program for the Lycoming Regional Police Department. Captain Smith’s training includes areas in juvenile justice, search and seizure, Pennsylvania case law, high-threat interventions as well as various levels of training in leadership, community policing and narcotics enforcement.
In his free time, Captain Smith volunteers as a coach in the Jersey Shore area. Over the years, he has participated as a coach or assistance coach in area soccer, football and wrestling programs. He has a passion for the development of youth and enjoys being a mentor. Sergeant Smith volunteered in the Dominican Republic with Sharing Hope Ministries, where he has helped with various construction projects designed for helping those in need. Captain Smith’s desire to serve others helps him be a leader that others look up to.
