The concerned father of two juvenile females called the NLCRPD police when they observed one small duckling fall into a storm drain. While on scene, the NLCRPD patrol observed the mother duck and her duckling running around on the grass as the females were attempting to keep them away from the storm drain. The NLCRPD patrol was able to observe that the baby duckling had gone into the drainpipe that was approximately 50-80 feet before the next storm drain exit was and advised the females that the duckling may find that exit and reunite with the mother. No further NLCRPD assistance options existed since both the local fire department and Township Road crews do not respond for ducklings being stuck in storm drains. This due to the cost and frequency of these reports and requests for assistance.
