Do you wish to serve as a volunteer to assist the youth of the community?
Please consider service as a member of the Youth Aid Panel being formed to serve the areas covered by the NLCRPD. The panel will serve the citizens of Penn Township, Clay Township, and Warwick Township.
The Office of the Lancaster County District Attorney is working in conjunction with juvenile probation and municipal police departments to establish and coordinate youth aid panels throughout the county, in an effort to divert nonviolent first offense juveniles from the court system.
Under youth aid panels, members of the community meet with the offending juvenile and devise a contract in which the youth agrees to certain conditions (such as community service or GED completion) in exchange for a dismissal of the charge. Nationwide and local statistics show that there is a very low recidivism rate for juveniles who are handled through a youth aid panels.
The NLCRPD is seeking always volunteers to participate in our Youth Aid Panel (YAP). The Lancaster County Youth Aid Panel is a diversionary program for youth under the supervision of the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office. If you reside in the NLCRPD jurisdiction (Clay, Penn, Warwick & E. Petersburg) you may be eligible to volunteer.
