On April 17, 2021, at approximately 1:00 AM the NLCRPD was dispatched for a fatal vehicle accident that occurred on Highlands Drive near the Breezy Knoll apartment complex just south of Lititz Borough. The accident was found to involve a single passenger vehicle with two occupants. The driver, a 21-year-old male, identified as RENNY JOEL KLINE, of the Borough of Lititz sustained fatal injuries during the crash.
The passenger, also a young male adult and friend of the operator, was taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Names of all those involved will be released when appropriate and after family notification(s) are completed.
NLCRPD Accident Reconstructionist and the County NE Crash team responded to investigate the cause of the accident. Traffic collision reconstruction is the process of investigating, analyzing, and drawing conclusions about the causes and events during a vehicle collision. Reconstructionists conduct collision analysis and reconstruction to identify the cause of a collision and contributing factors including the role of the driver(s), vehicle(s), roadway and general environment. Physics and engineering principles are the basis for these analyses and may involved the use of software for calculations and simulations. The NLCRPD utilizes a full array of technology including animation and three dimensional imagery as an essential part of this process.
The investigation is still pending, however, preliminary evidence suggested that vehicle was traveling northbound on Highlands Drive when the operator lost control and the vehicle rolled over. Both speed and consumption of alcohol are suspected to have been factors in the crash. No other vehicles or persons are believed to have been involved at this time. A full investigation to confirm the cause of the crash is underway and outcomes are pending. Anyone with further information concerning this crash investigation is requested to contact the NLCRPD at 717-733-0965, or via NLCRPD police dispatch at 717-664-1180.
