On the date of December 22nd, 2020, NLCRPD responded to a ‘check on the welfare’ call at the intersection of West Sun Hill Road, and Junction Road. It was reported that a male subject was inside of a dark colored SUV on the side of the road. The vehicle appeared to have been in an accident, the operator appeared to have been injured or impaired and was attempting to leave the scene.
Officers located the described vehicle, 2012 a Jeep Cherokee, stuck in a snowbank in the 700 block of Lancaster Road. The operator was identified as Dale L. STAHL of Lititz.
The follow-up investigation revealed that STAHL was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported or observed. A witness confirmed that STAHL had driven his vehicle off the roadway, struck a sign causing damage to both the sign and his vehicle. STAHL continued to try and drive the vehicle until located by police.
STAHL was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and associated charges. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Both the crash and the DUI are under active investigation.
