In recent days there has been much attention drawn by media reports of deficiencies in police oversight, policy, and police management and supervision. These criticisms may or may not be fair or valid - that is for debate by others.
What is often overlooked or in the light most favorable to those asking the question is the fact that some (many) of these practices are already in place, with agency policy directives, training, and memorandums of understanding with applied testing and proficiency means already established and in place by the police agency.
As part of the NLCRPD agency effort to provide the public with the best information possible for transparency and information that is usable and easy to understand the following chart was developed. This chart was the product of examining the top 8 areas of concern from police oversight groups and from discussions with community stakeholders. The actual policy will be added to the NLCRPD webpage as soon as certain technical revisions to appendices to the policy are completed and approved.
Please consider the attached PDF file depicting a chart with the common issues and responses concerning the issues raised. To facilitate understanding please consider:
The block labeled ISSUES OR AREA OF CONCERN identifies the items of concern or requests for redress by the policing authority. The response block indicates the NLCRPD WRITTEN DIRECTIVE NUMBER with the date it was put in place, followed by the STATUS which illustrates the current status of the policy within the NLCRPD written directives guide.
