The NLCRPD is responding to a social media posting yesterday on a local community social media platform that featured the image of a police car and the conclusion that the NLCRPD was engaged in screening of students for masking as they entered into an elementary school. There are several key areas of misunderstanding and unreliable information and misunderstanding associated with this post.
First the image of the police cruiser depicted in the post was that of the WARWICK SCHOOL DISTRICT POLICE and not that of a NLCRPD police unit. Secondly the NLCRPD does not engage in the practice of screening any one any where for the masking mandate, in accordance with current legal opinions, best practice guidelines and agency adopted directives.
Any questions as to the imagery and discussion depicted in the social media post should be directed to the Warwick Area School District for further information at 717-626-3734.
