Narrative:

On 02/13/2020 at approximately 0925 hrs, a call from LCWC regarding a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Main St and Miller Rd. has occurred.  LCWC advised that there was no blocking and no injuries. The vehicles involved were a Honda Accord and dark blue Toyota Corolla.

Upon arrival, the Honda accord crashed into a red fire hydrant. The Honda was off the right-side of the roadway just off the sidewalk. The fire hydrant was still intact and not spewing water. The dark blue Toyota parked in the parking lot of Lancaster County Motor Auction. All three individuals in the parking lot all appeared to be uninjured.

In sum, Unit 1 was traveling westbound on Miller Rd. Unit 1 then entered the left turn lane and attempted to make a left turn on a posted yellow light. Unit 1 did not yield to Unit 2, which had the right of way to proceed through the intersection. Unit 1 then crashed into the front driver-side bumper of Unit 2. Unit 2 in effort to avoid collision swerved right, however because of the impact from Unit 1, Unit 2 went over the right curb of Miller Rd and crashed into the fire hydrant on the right side of the roadway. Unit 1 driver, Roberta A. Golden, was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic making a left turn.  Wayne’s Towing assisted with the removal of the vehicle

I received both drivers information and their statements. The driver of unit 1, stated that she was traveling west bound on Main St and was not paying attention to the roadway. The driver realized that the traffic had slowed in front of her but did not have enough time to stop and ran into the back of the vehicle in front of her. The driver of Unit 2, identified as Joanne Diaco, stated that she had slowed down because of the traffic in front of her when she felt an impact from behind her. Diaco said that she did not see the impact just felt it.

Driver of Unit 1’s vehicle was disabled and needed towed, no preference on a towing company so Weaver’s Garage was called as per tow rotation.  Driver 1 was also notified that she will be cited for careless driving.

Incident #: 2002015824

02/15/2020    09:42     Clay Rd and Pine Hill Rd, Warwick Township

Narrative:  Officer dispatched to a 2 unit crash in the area of Pine Hill Rd at Clay Rd.; advised that there were no injuries reported.

The driver of Unit 1, Kent Zech driving a red Ford F250, advised that he stopped at the stop sign on Pine Hill Rd to cross over Clay Rd (facing east to travel east across Clay Rd). Zech advised that he looked both ways before proceeding after stopping at the stop sign but that he “must have looked right past the truck”. Unit 1 then proceeded to cross Clay Rd which is when Unit 2 driven by Michael Martin; struck Unit 1 in the middle of this intersection.

The driver of Unit 2, Michael Martin driving a red Dodge Ram, advised that he was traveling north on Clay Rd when Unit 1 came from the stop sign on Pine Hill Rd to cross over Clay Rd (traveling east). Unit 2 attempted to stop but was unable to stop in time. Unit 2 collided with Unit 1 in the middle of this intersection.

There were skid marks on Clay Rd from Unit 2 attempting to stop.

Unit 1 had minor rear passenger’s side quarter panel damage and did not require a tow. Unit 2 had severe front-end damage and was unable to be driven.

Weaver’s Garage was contacted to remove Unit 2 from the scene.

Crash information exchange form and provided a copy to both drivers.  A Traffic Citation will be filed against the driver of Unit 1, Kent Zech, for the stop sign violation.
