On July 3, 2021 @ 11:40 hours NLCRPD officers were asked to assist West Earl Police Department with a missing person who was armed and dangerous. This same date West Earl Police had responded to a report of a missing person, later identified as adult male Patrick R. MOORE, from an address located in the 200 block of Roseville Road. MOORE was said to be suffering from mental health issues and was believed to be suicidal. He was last seen on July 2, 2021. MOORE was entered as a missing person who was potentially armed and dangerous by the West Earl Police Department.
In response to the call, West Earl Officers notified NLCRPD and both agencies proceeded to check the surrounding areas for MOORE. Officers located MOORE near Log Cabin Road, in a wooded area adjacent to Cocalico Creek, in Warwick Township.
On scene MOORE was confirmed to be armed with a pistol and made repeated threats to harm himself. A perimeter was established, and the Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team’s (SERT) crisis negotiation team (CNT) was dispatched. CNT negotiated with MOORE for nearly six hours before he voluntarily turned himself in to police without incident. MOORE was assessed by on scene medical personnel then taken into custody by West Earl Police for transfer to a hospital for further treatment and professional care.
The weapon involved was located and secured by West Earl Police Department. No criminal charges were reported to have been filed because of the incident as of this date and time.
