The NLCRPD continues to investigate a series of smash and grab thefts from parked vehicles in and near the Middle Creek Waterfowl Refuge. The thefts are located in areas near Klinefeltersville Road. Anyone with further information concerning the person(s) responsible for these crimes are requested to contact the NLCRPD at 717-733-0965 or via the agency Crimewatch Web page.
The NLCRPD was requested to respond and investigate associated with the reporting of a theft. Details related to the investigation are on 12/20/2020 at approximately 0746 hours NLCRPD was dispatched to the parking lot (Lot #2) of the Middle Creek trail system in Clay Township at the trail head for a vehicle break-in that had just occurred.
A NLCRPD patrol arrived on scene and contacted the vehicle owner who stated that her vehicle's rear passenger's window was smashed out and a mesh bag containing a retractable dog leash was stolen. Reporting party stated that nothing else from her vehicle was missing or disturbed. She stated that she arrived at the park with her dog at approximately 0700 hours. At approximately 0745 hours she returned to her vehicle and found it damaged.
The victim estimated the value of the bag and dog leash at approximately $50.00 and the window at approximately $250.00.
