“When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.” ― G.K. Chesterton
The unsung heroes in times of bad weather and resulting travel challenges in the local public works departments. These crews are the front line to respond and provide roadway warnings, barriers, or repairs. The NLCRPD wishes to extend our teams gratitude for your efforts !
The NLCRPD received multiple calls yesterday concerning water encroachment upon travel portions of surface streets with some situations being made even more complicated by trees and lines being down on or near the roadway. This scenario replicated itself throughout the entire NLCRPD jurisdiction. Some of these situations required roadway closure others required traffic control until the situation was restored to normal.
An essential part of the NLCRPD response and problem solving was the role of the municipalities PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. These crews responded promptly and erected barriers or took prompt remedial actions to allow NLCRPD resources to be deployed to other events. In addition, the NLCRPD Community Services Unit consisting of a non-sworn staff member assisted at many locations providing immediate response capabilities to apply resources to areas of need.
THANKS !
