To facilitate public understanding and agency transparency objectives a copy of this policy is being attached to the agency webpage in the drop box marked as policy. The NLCRPD is posting the agency written directive governing agency members on the utilization of Conductive Energy Devices (CED) or the device commonly refered to as a TASER. This written directive was formulated by the NLCRPD to provide agency members with best practices and techniques to utilize in situations which potentially or do require the application and use of force.
The critical understandings for the officers in this written directive include the limits on CED applications on a subject and the requirements for providing medical treatment, the level of medical treatment to be applied to the person to who the CED was applied or delivered is specified within the directive.
This policy is subject to the requirements of the NLCRPD use of force policy and is cross referenced with the policy in training and in other agency directives and applications
