NLCRPD Announces Promotions for Lieutenant & Detective Corporal

At our August 13th Board of Commission Meeting we promoted Sergeant Curtis Ochs to the rank of Lieutenant and Detective Theresa Stauffer to the rank of Detective Corporal!!

Lieutenant Ochs was hired by Warwick Township Police Department in January 2000.   In January 2012, Warwick Township Police Department merged with Penn and Clay Township Police Departments to form the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department.

In the early years of NLCRPD, Curt worked as a patrol officer and honed his skills as an evidence technician.  His knowledge was begging to be imparted on others so in 2019, Officer Ochs was promoted to Corporal.  In years to follow, Corporal Ochs continued his own professional growth and his leadership abilities were undeniable.  In 2022, Corporal Ochs was promoted to Sergeant.  Shortly thereafter, in 2024, Sergeant Ochs’s position shifted into a training sergeant / criminal investigation division / Manheim Auto Auction position where he took a more supportive role in lieu of an operations role with the NLCRPD. Since filling that role, Curt has supported the CID unit on countless occasions with collection of evidence at major crime scenes.  In addition, he became the department training sergeant and has taken the NLCRPD’s training program to the next level.  Communications and working relationships have also been enhanced and bridged with Manheim Auto Auction to better serve the needs of such an important business in Lancaster County.

With his most recent promotion, August 2026, Sergeant Ochs became the Operations Lieutenant.  He will oversee the patrol division, the criminal investigations division as well as the NLCRPD’s Manheim Auto Auction officers from an administrative level. Lieutenant Ochs’s work as an evidence technician will also continue as his expertise is second to none.

Detective Corporal Stauffer began her career with Penn Township Police Department in August 2000 as a patrol officer.  In January 2012, Penn Township Police Department merged with Warwick and Clay Township Police Departments to form the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department.

At that time, Officer Stauffer was a member of the patrol division of the NLCRPD. Over her tenure in patrol, her skill set in criminal investigations became obvious as she was loaded down with criminal follow ups and investigations.  Since the first homicide investigated by the NLCRPD in September of 2014, she has been at nearly every major crime scene; pivotal moments for the police department and its members to endure.

Officer Stauffer became Detective Stauffer in March of 2015.  In the past 11+ years of being a detective; Theresa has diligently, selflessly, and tirelessly worked for victims; obtaining countless confessions from perpetrators  in hopes of giving victims the ability to move forward in their lives.

Detective Stauffer, who is now promoted to Detective Corporal; will be leading the criminal investigations division; a workhorse team consisting of herself and two other detectives; all theree who hold a brutally grueling, but very much needed position at the NLCRPD.  She will continue to be a working supervisor and will continue to seek justice for her victims and lead the NLCRPD CID unit into the future.
