The NLCRPD continues to investigate a fatal crash that occurred this evening of State Street near the intersection of Cottage Place in the Borough of East Petersburg. The crash involved a motorcycle that was traveling west on State Street when the operator lost control and began a slide on the roadway, the operator was separated from the motorcycle, as the motorcycle impacted an oncoming BMW SUV that was traveling east bound on State Street.

The operator of the BMW SUV was not injured because of the crash. The driver of the motorcycle an adult male, age 41, was provided emergency medical care at the crash scene by first responders and was transported to the Lancaster General Hospital for hospital-based care. The subject did not survive the crash and was pronounced deceased. The Office of the Lancaster County Coroner was notified of the crash and the victim’s status and is investigating.

The NLCRPD crash reconstruction team is on scene of the crash for reconstruction and reporting in support of the NLCRPD Patrol service’s units. The Office of the Lancaster County District Attorney was provided a protocol situation report on the crash and the crash investigation. The identity of the deceased is being withheld by the NLCRPD pending notification of the next of kin and will be released by the Office of the Lancaster County Coroner upon notification.
