Hit & Run occurred at 5978 Pine St. to the rear off the ally. Fence damaged. Located vehicle and driver who admitted to hitting fence. Driver cited with PA Title 75 Section 3745(a) Accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.
On 4-28-20 NLCRPD was dispatched by Lancaster County Wide Communications (LCWC) to 5978 Pine St. in East Petersburg, PA for a hit and run that occurred around 19:00 on 4-27-20 that damaged the reporting party's fence. The reporting party advised that he was able to capture the incident on security footage that overlooks the rear of his property. NLCRPD patrol observed damage to a wooden fence on one of his properties. NLCRPD took pictures of the damage to the fence and video imagery - video footage provided by the caller of a blue 4 door sedan, possibly a ford, striking the fence.
The investigating NLCRPD officer located a vehicle that matched the vehicle in the video as well as the vehicle registration obtained by witnesses. The vehicle is a 2007 Ford Five Hundred bearing a Pennsylvania registration. The investigating NLCRPD officer observed front right passenger side damage to the vehicle and took pictures and uploaded these images remotely to the NLCRPD evidence management system.
RODNEY RASHAAD LYLES, age 40, 0f 462 Candlewyck Drive, Lancaster, Pa was located on the parking lot. He was field interviewed by the NLCRPD officer about the damage to his vehicle, he stated that he was leaving Turkey Hill on Main St. and was in a hurry to get home because “he was about to _ _ _ _ himself”.
LYLES did not provide a reason as to why he did not return to the scene to attempt to make contact with the owner of the fence. The NLCRPD patrol officer explained to LYLES that that anytime an accident occurs that he is involved in he needs to make contact with the owner immediately LYLES has been cited with Title 75 Section 3745(a) Accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.
