NLCRPD must correct a news story posted by the local Fox affiliate who reported the following:
"Both suspects were taken into custody on drug related charges; one of them also had a previous drug-related bench warrant. They were then transported to the North Lancaster County Regional Police Department for identification, digital rectal exams, and arrest bookings"
The NLCRPD release as posted on the Crimewatch web page actually read - Both subjects taken into custody on drug related charges , and one subject on a previous drug related bench warrant. Subjects were transported to the NLCRPD for livescan identification, DRE testing, and arrest booking. No injuries were reported associated with this event and more details will follow after charging documents and positive identifications have been completed.
It should be noted that DRE testing is actually an acronym used by law enforcement for DRUG RECOGNITION EVALUATION or DRUG RECOGNITION EXPERT, the common usage of DRE TESTING as suggested by the media outlet as DIGITAL RECTAL EXAM should be disregarded as the definition intended within the NLCRPD release.
