The Ephrata Police Department has concluded the investigation of an encounter between two school-aged students and the driver of a green truck, which occurred on the afternoon of September 18, 2019. The students reported that the driver invited them into his vehicle and asked them to accompany him for food. Police used video surveillance to identify the vehicle involved in the incident. The investigation revealed that the incident was actually a misperception of a blue-tooth phone conversation. Two students were walking in the alley in close proximity to the stopped green truck. The driver of the truck, traveling with his window down, was involved in a blue-tooth conversation with a friend about plans for the evening, which included picking the friend up and eating dinner together. Police were able to obtain electronic confirmation of the conversation and corroborate the conversation’s content with the friend. No evidence exists to charge the driver with a crime nor is the public in any danger.
